Beech - Pacific, white

Size of tree and type of forest/location: Large hardwoods of scattered occurrence in coastal rainforest from Shoalhaven in New South Wales to Queensland.
Description of wood: Heartwood pale brown, not clearly distinguishable from the sapwood. Texture medium and even. Grain often interlocked.
Dry density kg/m3: 950
Workability: Easy to work. Sometimes difficult to glue so surface should be freshly prepared and not too smooth.
Durability
Use: Furniture, especially outdoor furniture, boatbuilding, carving, turnery, pattern making and shives for beer casks.
Availability: Scarce
