Size of tree and type of forest/location: Large hardwood grown in coastal forests of New South Wales and Queensland

Description of wood: Heartwood pale brown. Sapwood distinctively paler. Texture medium and even. Grain usually straight.
Dry density kg/m3: 900

Workability: Poor base for paint because of its tendency to surface check but stain finishes can be used satisfactorily. The high extractives content of mature wood can cause some gluing problems.

Durability: Class 2

Use: Poles, sleepers, flooring, building framework.
